Lommatzsch region – high quality loess soil

Lommatzsch lies amidst the so-called Lommatzscher Pflege, an area of land that features high-quality loess soil and is therefore mainly used agriculturally. For 1000 years the landscape has been used for agricultural purposes by Slavic people. Till this date these fields are farmed. This area is also famous for its farms and market-gardens. All kinds of produce are sold at local markets – it does not come fresher than this. Not far away guests will find the castle of Schleinitz where exhibitions, concerts and readings take place.

Guests can also visit a mine which provides the essential ingredient to manufacture the world-famous Meissen Porcelain.
