Belgern – history and silence
The city tells us about 1000 years of history. Therefore, Belgern beams with pride – but also with silence and tranquillity.
The marketplace is the greatest location to take a historical break. The city centre offers lovingly restored middle class houses from the time of the Renaissance as well as the emblem of the city: the "Roland" – a barefoot statue which stands six metres high on a platform. Since 1610, the Roland stands for market rights, coinage prerogative and jurisdiction.
Not far from this scenery, people can marvel at the distance-column from the year 1730. The column indicates, in stagecoach hours, the distances to 80 cities.
Close by the city centre, guests can enjoy the natural idyll and relax in the woodland of the "Dahlener Heide" (Dahlen moorland).
The landscape park "Treblitzsch" offers relaxation and silence, too. The wonderful park is located in the south of Belgern.
