Saxony´s Wine Route

The 55-kilometre-long Saxon Wine Route stretches between Pirna and Diesbar-Seusslitz – in the heart of Germany’s smallest winery district, which is also the one located at the farthest north-easterly point in Europe. Over the course of centuries, a fascinating combination of a river landscape, architectural skills and a cheerful attitude towards life have developed here.

Vines have been cultivated for over 800 years in this weather-blessed part of Saxony and porcelain has been made here for almost 300 years. Wine and porcelain – this along with the discovery of silver – is what made Saxony rich and famous. And the gleam of former times is still noticeable today.

Allow us to entice you along on a very special wine tour:

Along the Saxon Wine Route during a journey on a side-wheel steamship, discover the vineyard terraces in Pirna, in Pillnitz and below Dresden’s Elbe castles. Take a break with a glass of wine and some Saxon specialties in a typical guesthouse. Directly in front of the gates of Saxony’s capital in the direction of Meissen is where the actual growing district begins on the cliffs of Radebeul, continuing over Coswig and Weinboehla on to Meissen, ending in the romantic Elbe wine villages around Diesbar-Seusslitz. Everywhere you go, there is a meeting of centuries-old art and culture, architectural diversity, an impressive landscape and Mediterranean charm.
