Wine Festivals 2011

Celebrations are a popular pastime on the Elbe! And so is drinking wine. Locals and visitors alike can look forward to many wine festivals from June to October, the largest of which are:

The Wine Festival in Pirna - 10th September 2011

A merry fest indeed on the historic monastery grounds with the City Museum and gothic monastery church, the raffling of special wineries, ceramics and a few objects of curiosity. The players: wine-growers and wine dealers from throughout the Elbe region, potters, stonemasons, blacksmiths and coopers, painters, graphic artists and cabaret artists.

The Winegrowers Street Festival in Weinboehla - 02th September to 04th September 2011

On the first weekend in September there is wine, music and a friendly atmosphere in the adorned courtyards surrounding the church site; live musicians and choirs, hay wagon races, bird shooting, exhibitors, traders and a big fireworks display to top off the festival.

The Wine Festival in Meissen - 23th to 25th September  2011

This is a huge wine spectacle on Saxony’s Wine Route, with cultural performances on several stages in the centre of this Middle Ages city, culture and also the pouring of Saxon wines in many inner courtyards and centuries-old arched cellars.

The Radebeul Autumn and Wine Festival - 23th to 25th September 2011

A traditional festival on the village green of Altkoetzschenbroda in combination with the International Travelling Theatre Festival, a parade of Bacchus and his subjects, colourfully decorated wine farms, cheerful wine gardens and mysterious wine cellars, musicians, theatre groups, and culinary delights.
